| The Glass Association arranges three
or four national meetings per year including an Annual General Meeting
(AGM). These meetings are usually held on Saturdays and take the form
of visits to museums, exhibitions, or factories, located at various
locations throughout the country. The visits are also complemented
by lectures and talks given by distinguished speakers. |
| |
| All the Association’s events are
informal social occasions and afford members the opportunity to meet
fellow enthusiasts. These events often provide a chance to view glass
collections not normally open to the public. |
| |
| Seminars: |
| Weekend seminars are held every other
year. The first of these was in Newcastle in 1985 and subsequent venues
have included York, Glasgow, Devon, the National Glass Centre (Sunderland),
and The World of Glass in St. Helens. |
| |
| Overseas Events: |
| The Glass Association's first overseas
visit was to Liege, the centre of the Belgian glass industry, and
subsequent excursions have taken us to Nancy and the Lorraine glass
factories. |
| |
| The most recent overseas visit was to
Novy Bor in Czechoslovakia. This trip was jointly organised with other
similarly minded associations. |
| |
| Future Events: |
Another overseas visit is currently being
planned. Exact details will be announced on our NEWS
page.
