Graham Cooley |
Graham is a collector “extraordinaire” of post war design and art, mainly British, but also continental - as with his collection of Czech glass. He collects in areas and of designers and factories ahead of the market trend: putting together collections and then exhibiting in order to create interest & educate in the chosen field.
Graham is known for his collections and exhibitions of work by Frank Thrower at Dartington and Ronald Stennet-Wilson (previously at King’s Lynn). His first exhibition was at Broadfield House in 2001, when under Charles Hajdamach as curator, he showed design pieces mainly by Geoffrey Baxter of Whitefriars.
Though having a BA in The History of Art, Graham’s background is that of science and finance. He has degrees in Physics & Materials Technology, was business development manager for National Power Plc & International Power Plc, is CEO of Metalysis Ltd and manages intellectual property and technology development.
A man with enormous energy, an artistic breadth of vision, a great eye for detail and a prodigious memory. |

Dan Klein |
Dan has broad interests in art, music & literature; his first career being that of an opera singer. A multi-linguist, Dan came down from Oxford with a BA Hons. in the Greats – a solid foundation for his future interests.
Since the late seventies Dan has specialized in Decorative Arts from the mid 19th century to the present day, with a particular interest in post-war and contemporary glass. In 1978 he opened a gallery in London, specializing in 20th century Decorative Arts & Contemporary Glass, curating exhibitions, amongst others, on Christopher Dresser and “Masters of Czech Glass” – introducing Libensky & Brychtiova.
In 1984 Dan Klein joined Christie’s as European Director of 20th century Decorative Arts and also took on the role of Vice President of Christie’s in Switzerland. Widely known for his authorship, he has written extensively on Art Deco, the History of Glass and Contemporary Glass with “Artists in Glass: Late 20th Century Masters in Glass”.
1996 was a busy year, joining with Alan J Poole in “Dan Klein Associates” – promoting contemporary glass and becoming a professor of glass at The University of Sunderland. Dan Klein Associates were then asked to organize and curate the glass biennale “Venezia Aperto Vetro”. The following year, Dan joined Philips International Auctioneers and rose to International Executive Director, before leaving in 2001.
Dan now restricts himself to his freelance writing, lecturing and acting as a guest auctioneer; whilst consulting as a specialist on contemporary glass & exhibiting through his business (Dan Klein Associates). Few can match his knowledge of 20th century decorative glass and the studio glass movement. |
