| Broadfield House Glass Museum (West Midlands) |
Hi Sklo Lo Sklo - From Masterpiece to Mass Produced
7 February - 11 October 2009
An exhibition of 150 specially selected examples of postwar Czech glass design from the Graham Cooley Collection.
Following the ground-breaking event held in King's Lynn, this new exhibition offers you another chance to learn more about modern Czechoslovakian glass.
The exhibition includes glass designs by Brabec, Beranek, Filip, Gabrhel, Hanus, Harcuba, Hlava, Honzik, Hospodka, Jelinek, Jurnikl, Klinger, Kotik, Lipa, Matura, Metelak, Oliva, Panek, Peceny, Pravec, Repasek, Schmidt, Suhajek, Svarc, Svobodova, Urban, Vizner, Wunsch, Zahour, Zejmon & Zemek.
From the 1950's onwards Czechoslovakia was a hotbed of modern glass design. Skilled and experienced designers produced hundreds of colourful and vibrant designs which were exported to the West in their thousands. Sold as art glass for the home and available on the high street, the designers behind them were rarely named - despite the fact that many are recognised today as masters of 20th century glass design.
The exhibition is accompanied by a 148 page full colour catalogue, by antiques and collectables author Mark Hill, containing an
illustrated historical and contextual introduction and over 200 specially commissioned photographs with captions.

Hungate Medieval Art (Norwich) |
From 3 April 2009 (Ongoing)
Stained Glass project.
The emphasis for the first year will be on the medieval stained glass of Norfolk, much of it made in Norwich. A considerable amount of medieval glass is still in the church. There will be accounts of how and where the glass was made, with illustrations of some of the best examples outside the city. One purpose of the project is to tell people where to find the most interesting work all over the county, so trail leaflets will be available for those with time and transport - and binoculars as reformers tended to smash anything below tracery level! Even at this late stage, we hope to set up one or two surprises as well.
Charges: £3 entry; £2.50 concessions
Opening Hours:
10am - 3pm, Thursday to Saturday (groups on other days)
St Peter Hungate Church, Princes Street, Norwich

Iona Gallery, Kingussie: 19 September – 17 October 2009
Broadfield House Glass Museum, West Midlands: 14 November – 11th March 2010
This year’s annual exhibition for the Scottish Glass Society will be a show with a difference, as we are celebrating 30 years since the Society was first established in 1979. To honour this momentous anniversary we would like to introduce Migrate, which will showcase the best of emerging and established Scottish glass artists.
This contemporary art glass exhibition is based on the theme of Migration; and will examine the different ways that artists express a sense of place and identity in their work; bringing together a collective of glass artists that actively challenge and contribute to the rich Scottish Art scene.
The first leg of the touring exhibition will begin with the Highland Galleries in early July and will start at the Inverness Museum & Art Gallery, then onto the St Fergus Gallery in Wick, the Iona Gallery, in Kingussie and will finish at the Broadfield House Glass Museum, in the West Midlands.

Glass Photography Workshop (London) |
Saturday 4 July 2009
Now Fully Booked!
Following the success of our previous workshop in 2007 we have decided to hold a series of classes in 2009 for those who wish to learn the basics of glass photography. We are keen to offer an advanced class toward the end of the year if there is sufficient interest.
As in 2007, we have secured the services of Ester Segarra, a professional photographer based in London who has worked over the last seven years with a variety of clients including glass designer/makers. She works regularly at London Glassblowing with Peter Layton.
Our workshops are friendly affairs designed to cater for all levels from the absolute beginner upwards. All participants are encouraged to bring a piece of glass to photograph and their own camera. You do not need to own a state-of-the-art camera to benefit from this course - in fact, you do not actually need to bring a camera along.
The morning session will concentrate on the theory behind taking good photographs. After lunch, the practical session will give you the opportunity to put what you have learnt into practice.
Charges: £65 pp
